School Clubs

Here are some of the clubs we have running at Aberdare Park Primary School, for more information on these and anything else just ask a member of staff or contact us here.

After School
Acorn Club

Our after school club offers inexpensive child care from 3.30pm – 5.30pm for £6 per evening which includes a healthy snack.
Children are able to engage with a variety of exciting activities such as cooking, outdoor games and art led by school staff.

Our breakfast club is a Welsh Assembly Government Breakfast Club Initiative initiative aimed at providing a healthy, nutritious breakfast for our children.  It is free to attend and opens between 8.15 and 8.40am every morning which includes fun activities for children before the start of the school day. Breakfast club is run by our canteen and support staff at the school.

Junior Road
Safety Officers

Our JRSO’s are a mix of Y5 and Y6 pupils who organise quizzes and competitions and work closely with RCT’s Road Safety Officer to raise awareness of the importance of road safety and parking safely outside our school.

Friends of Aberdare
Park Primary

We are most fortunate to have the continuous and enthusiastic support of an active parent group, working for the benefit of all involved with our school.  If you would like to become involved as a ‘Friend’ further information can be obtained from reception at the school.

In gardening club we aim to spark the children’s interest in growing and how we can help nature and the wildlife in the garden. The children have access to the garden and planters and help tend the plants and flowers. Gardening club is open to year 2 children and takes place on Wednesday’s 3.20 – 4.20pm.

Primary Stars

Primary Stars is a musical theatre group established in 2009 by Mrs Helen Jones. The ethos of the group is to give every child the chance to shine.  Each year the children perform on stage in a theatre, giving them a chance to experience performing to an audience and to experience theatre craft.

Our group promotes confidence, self-esteem, teamwork and the development of speaking skills.  We have performed a varied selection of shows such as ‘Magic of the Movies’, ‘Back to the 80s’ and this year’s ‘Talent Factor’.  We like to provide children with a variety of genres to sing, dance and act.

The club is open to Year 1 – Year 6 pupils and we will be recruiting in September for our new show ‘A Mishmash of Musicals’ featuring excerpts and songs from Matilda, Shrek, Oliver and many more.

So if your child would enjoy ‘treading the boards’ then send them along to sing, dance, act and have fun with the Primary Stars of our school.
